Paella Party

Paella Party at the Walter de Cantelupe
The assembled crowd could be forgiven for thinking that they were in some Spanish village square during the last paella party at the Inn.Well-wishers believed they remembered hearing the strains of flamenco music. If not actual reality, that was probably the only authentic element missing from the sun-blissed day. And was it hot ? Hardly a cloud in the sky. For some wide-brimmed hats and even a knotted hankerchief were seen gracing thinly thatched heads. Perfect!
Gallons, (or should it be litres ?) of sangria were sensibly consumed. It is just so easy when you have all afternoon to relax. No clock watching. People watching, perhaps.

World's biggest paella...?
Revellers munched on a variety of fresh salads whilst watching the spectacle of the paella being cooked before their very eyes. Ingredients were added one after the other stirred with confident movements of the oar-size ‘spoon’ by Senor Chef.
The anticipation of everyone sharing a meal from one giant-size pan could be clearly felt as the cover was raised to reveal the colourful array of meat, fish, vegetables and rice all piping hot. To complete the feast what better than seasonal strawberries and cream. Once everyone had eaten their fill (many going for seconds of paella)those of a sporting disposition, tried their hand with a game or two of boules, (a French game perhaps, but nevertheless played in Spain).
